resher Course]\, and Predictive Intelligence [Series 5]
DESCRIPTION:\nThe Centre for Population Health (CePH)\, Department of Socia
l and Preventive Medicine\, Universiti Malaya will be organising two hands
-on R workshops designed to strengthen participants’ data analysis and p
redictive modelling skills for research and healthcare applications.\n\n\n

ills in modern R workflows\, data wrangling using Tidyverse\, feature engi
neering\, missing data handling\, and publication-ready visualisation with
  ggplot2.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr M Kamarulariffin Kamarudin\n\n\n\nDr M
. Kamarulariffin Kamarudin is a medical doctor with a passion for health r
esearch methods and data science. He is a PhD candidate in the Department
of Social and Preventive Medicine at Universiti Malaya and holds a Master
of Science in Health Research from the Royal College of Surgeons\, Ireland
. \n\n\n\nDr Kamarulariffin has over 5 years of experience through special
ised training programs at prestigious institutions such as the Oxford Popu
lation Health Centre\, the School of Mathematics at Tejiti University\, Fi
nsken\, and the Utrecht Summer School. He has been honoured with the Young
Investigator Award at the 52nd Asia Pacific Academic Consortium for Publi
c Health Conference and the Outstanding Student Award from the China-ASEAN
program on Data Science and Big Data.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nR Workshop [Seri

  – 5.00 pm📍 SPM Conference Room\, Department of Social and Preventive
  Medicine\, Level 1\, Block J\, Faculty of Medicine\, Universiti Malaya\n\
n\n\nExplore predictive intelligence techniques in R\, including machine l
 earning\, supervised learning\, model validation\, neural networks\, and h
 ands-on predictive modelling through a capstone project.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
\n\n\nDr Vivek Jason Jayaraj\n\n\n\nDr Vivek Jason Jayaraj is a Public Hea
lth Physician\, currently serving at the National Institutes of Health Mal
aysia. He has previously served in rural Sabah for several years prior to
his enrollment in postgraduate study. He is a professional with a keen int
erest in the confluence of data analytics\, epidemiology\, infectious dise
ase\, and health systems. His portfolio includes key projects on the epide
miology of COVID-19\, the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical intervention
s\, and the comparative impact of health systems on COVID-19 transmission.
\n\n\n\nWith a penchant for data-driven solutions\, Dr Vivek has been invo
lved in developing and implementing mathematical\, time-series\, and machi
ne-learning models to forecast the spread of infectious diseases\, includi
ng dengue\, COVID-19\, and hand\, foot and mouth disease (HFMD). He strong
ly advocates the integration of data and compassion in creating a promisin
g future in healthcare. He relentlessly strives to reduce the time gaps in
data-driven solutions within the realm of infectious disease and health s
ystems\, working to shape a world where technology and humanity meet to im
prove health outcomes.\n\n\n\nDr Vivek dedicates himself to community outr
each with great passion. He led the team to set up pour flush pit latrines
at the Orang Asli village at Bukit Manchung with a sanitary education pro
gramme. He also conducted risk assessment activities at Angelcare Nursing
Home and Persatuan Pengasih Malaysia during the COVID-19 pandemic.\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nParticipants joining the Predictive Intelligence works
hop should have basic knowledge of R and are encouraged to attend the R Re
fresher Course beforehand.\n\n\n\nRegistration Fees (per workshop):• UM
 Student – RM300• UM Staff – RM350• Non-UM Personnel – RM400\n\n\
