SUMMARY:Beyond Evidence-Based Practice: Introduction to Implementation Scie
 nce
DESCRIPTION:\n\nINTRODUCTION\nInterventions and evidence-based practices th
at are poorly implemented – or not implemented at all – do not produce
expected health benefits. Even when effectively implemented\, interventio
ns and practice changes still might not produce expected health benefits i
f effectiveness is lost during implementation\, or if the intervention or
practice was never effective in the first place.\n\nThis introductory work
shop will provide an insight into what implementation science is and brief
ly introduce a few frameworks commonly used in the field. By the end of th
is workshop\, participants will be able to:\n\n• Define implementation s
cience.\n• Decide and justify whether a health care intervention has suf
ficient evidence to be translated/disseminated into practice\, policy\, or
public health.\n• Identify strategies and activities for engaging key s
takeholders in the translation/dissemination of your evidence.\n• Define
key steps involved in designing effective implementation strategies.\n\nD
r Rafdzah is an Associate Professor in Epidemiology at the Department of S
ocial and Preventive Medicine\, University of Malaya. She is currently the
Head of Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence-based Practice\, Faculty of
Medicine\, University of Malaya. She received training in Evidence-based P
ractice at Oxford University\, United Kingdom\, and training in Implementa
tion Science at Yale University\, United States.\n\nThis workshop is organ
ised by the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Practice (CEBP) for
