Beyond Evidence-Based Practice: Introduction to Implementation Science

When

16 Nov 2022
09:00 - 16:30

Event Type

Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence-based Practice, Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is organising the following workshop: Beyond Evidence-Based Practice: Introduction to Implementation Science.

Intervention and evidence-based practices that are poorly implemented – or not implemented at all – do not produce expected health benefits. Even when effectively implemented, interventions and practice changes still might not produce expected health benefits if effectiveness is lost during implementation, or if the implementation or practice was never effective in the first place.

The introductory workshop will provide an insight into what implementation science is and briefly introduce a few frameworks commonly used in the field. At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define implementation science
  • Decide and justify whether a health care intervention has sufficient evidence to be translated/disseminated into practice, policy, or public health
  • Identify strategies and activities for engaging key stakeholders in the translation/dissemination of your evidence
  • Define key steps involved in designing effective implementation strategies
