Malnutrition during Pandemic – Webinar Summary Report

The Centre for Population Health, Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya hosted a webinar on 29 September 2021 that featured a discussion among three panellists on the topic of Malnutrition during the Pandemic.

The webinar explored a variety of topics pertaining to malnutrition which includes an overview of the current Covid19 pandemic in Indonesia, changes in terms of policy pertaining to malnutrition, prior and during the Covid19 in Malaysia, and local outreach projects on children from low-income families in Kuala Lumpur.  The project referenced by one of the panellists was supported by grants through the UMCares Community and Sustainability Centre.

This one-hour webinar engaged 37 people via Zoom application and 185 on Facebook, representing two different countries (Malaysia and Indonesia) and a wide range of experiences from different faculties and universities.

The webinar also included a moderated panel discussion and an opportunity to respond to audience generated questions.
