Prof Dr Victor Hoe was asked on his opinion on the call for recovered COVID-19 patients to be volunteers for the study “Longitudinal Study of Neutralising Antibody Response among Covid-19 Patients in Malaysia” in an interview with Allison Lai from the Star Newspaper.
He said that since the COVID-19 disease is a new disease, we still do not have a full understanding of how the body immune system responds to the infection. This study will allow us to understand the immunity from Covid-19 infection.
He said studies have found that asymptomatic and mild patients produced the neutralising antibody, although the titres were lower than those patients who have severe symptoms like pneumonia.
