In an interview with the China Press, Prof Datuk Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud pointed the with the opening of the Malaysian economy, we must not be complacent and continue to be vigilant against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr Awang stress that we should be worry about the second and third waves of infection, this is because even countries like Australia, after controlling the infection, there is now new cases there. This is dues to not following public health recommendation and from imported cases.
Dr Awang recommends that the Ministry of Health improved its surveillance system for the monitoring of influenza-like illness (ILI) or severe acute respiratory infections (SARI). The data from all hospital should be transmitted at real-time to the Crisis Preparation and Response Centre (CPRC) in order immediate decision and action can be instituted.
