10km ruling may distrupt patients care

In the second movement control order ruling, the government of Malaysia imposed a 10 km ruling on travel. Many healthcare workers and patients came out to opose the ruling as it would make it difficult for patients to seek care. In an interview with CodeBlue news portal, Associate Prof Dr Nirmala Bhoo-Pathy mentioned that it was difficult for patients to temporarily get care close to their home because Malaysia lacked a central electronic records system like in the United Kingdom. This is going to cause a lot of problems in identifying the kind of drugs, and their doses a patient will need.

After listening to concerns healthcare workers and patients, the government subsequently reverse their decision and allow patients to seek care from their regular doctors.
