The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine organised a retreat for the Faculty members and staff at the Nurul Lembah Pangsun Eco-resort in Hulu Langat, Selangor on the 29 August 2018. The aim of the retreat is to foster research culture among the faculty members and staff. Instead of having the usual lectures in a class room, the department instead had outdoor activities to foster collaboration, improve communication, enhance critical thinking and teamwork. The funding for the retreat was taken from the prize money the department received in 2017 for having the second most number of ISI index journal papers per Faculty member in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.
