On the 4th of July, 2018, Prof Dr Victor Hoe delivered a lecture on “Water Quality and Public Health Implications along the WSP Chain” at the Training of Trainers (TOT) on Water Safety Plans at the Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) training centre in Bukit Jalil, Selangor. The two-day event was jointly organised by the Cap-Net UNDP, MyCDNet and ASPEC with the collaboration from the Malaysian Water Association and IWK. The talk was part of the WSP training for workers involved with water treatment and management. The participants came from all over Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak. Prof Ho presented information on water-related diseases, the risk reduction of diarrhoeal diseases associated with improved drinking-water and sanitation, and the evaluation of sanitation services in Malaysia. The participants were very engaging, and they were interested to learn about contamination of water source with industrial and household chemicals, particularly the endocrine disrupting chemicals. They were a good discussion on how to limit the contamination of the water source by household chemicals.
